Makes sense, I'll give it a try. Any tips on removing the mirrors? I'm guessing the door panels must be removed.

If there is no power to the plugs where would I go from there?

No just pull off the little triangle panel and i think its 3 nuts you have to remove and the mirror will come off.

If you still dont have power then I would trace the wires and check them for breaks pinched etc.

Ok, had to pull door panel off, but not a big deal. No power to mirrors. Traced wires underneath water barrier behind door panel, someone had cut three of the wires right next to the connector. reconnected wires and cautiously tested for power to mirror in case they were cut due to a short somewhere. power to mirror but no go. disassembled mirror, checked for power to motor contacts, 12 volts to the motors. I guess I have bad mirrors? I'm concerned as to why the wires were cut at the plug, I'm not sure I want to leave the plug reconnected. I'm pretty sure they were cut and not broken.
