Just bought a 2016 Limited and the ride seems pretty bouncy to me. Hitting a pothole on the freeway throws the vehicle around. OK, it's a truck so the ride will not be as refined, but how can I tell if what I am experiencing is normal or abnormal? Don't want to just start throwing money at struts if they are not needed.

Thanks!

Go to a dealership and test drive a comparable truck. Check the tires as well. My Michelins ride a heck of a lot differently than my Pirelli Scorpions did on the same vehicle.

Mine was very bouncy until I recently changed the struts. But I'm at 120,000 miles. I agree that test driving another may help. Check tire pressure as well.

My 2015 EL became very bouncy at 100k, I could see that the LR shock was leaking. I replaced rear struts with used struts (guaranteed for 100 days) until new back ordered Bilstein shocks arrive.

Update - I replaced the rear struts with Monroe complete assemblies and it has significantly improved the ride. So much better. I didn't see any signs of leaks on the struts but maybe they leaked out a long time ago.

I didn't do the front and when going over a speed bump today the front only bounced once so I am thinking those are still good.
