I just took my 2009 Expy to the car wash. It was one of those soft touch ones. Well it wasn't so soft. One of the pieces of material got in between my blade and the window and Ripped the wiper up. I couldn't push it back down because i was in the car. haha

By the time it had finished the wiper was laying on my side mirror!!!

Anyone know what to look for to possibly fix it? Or should I take it to the dealer. We are leaving going to visit family on Wednesday evening so I need to have it fixed by then. HELP!?

Whoever owns or operates the car wash is responsible. Tell them they need to make arrangements to have it repaired.

there was a sign that says they are not responsible for damages.... It was one of those car washes that is opened 24/7. No one was actually on site.

They're still responsible. They post those signs simply to deter people from filing a claim, however you can't opearate a business that damages someone elses property and not be responsible for it, sign or not. The fact that they even post the sign is an admission that they operate a service that regularly damages property belonging to others.

Check to see if the wiper arm just slipped on the splines. Lift the wiper arm up release the tab at the pivot point and reset it. Then run it at high speed and see if it stays.

So I went out to my truck and messed with it. The actual blade was completely broken. When I lifted it up it completely fell off. They were our snow blades and needed to be replaced anyway so I guess that's not a big deal. My husband said he will pick some up at Walmart on his way home. He just better not get cheapy ones. haha

I took off the little panel where the bolt was and the bolt was loose. So loose I could move it with my fingers. I tightened it up and WAHLAH! All fixed. Thank goodness.

I am going to go back over there tomorrow and see if they will pay to replace the one blade or refund me my $10 for the wash. Still gonna keep an eye on it though to make sure it was only a bolt.

the expys have a terrible design on the way the wiper arm is attached. it sounds the same as how my '98 is. the nut holds the arm onto groves in the gear sticking out of the wiper cowl. well even a semi loosed bolt with cause these to strip and bam no wiper. every other ford i have has a better clip on locking system for the arm rather then the nut holding it on.

glad you got it fixed! hope it stays working.
