The screen capture above is from the esource(?) site that dealers use to look up the info on the vehicle. I don’t have access to it, but I asked to take a screen shot of it when ordering in December. Ford — in all of their marketing materials — state unambiguously that you should would with the dealer for the all details on the specific models.
Here’s my spreadsheet, for those interested, comparing 3 vehicles (Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon, Jeep Wagoneer):
- Towing capacity doesn’t matter much, as they all have excess towing capability.
- Payload capability limits the Ford Expedition Active.
- GMC Yukon is the best, but GMC specifies a TW no more than 10% of the tow capability.
- Jeep Wagoneer is the best.
In reviewing the Jeep videos on it, TFL truck did a review with the (heavy) Flying Cloud:

Also, the Jeep chief engineer describes how the Wagoneer is basically a truck underneath:
https://youtu.be/QR9VoKpPtd4?t=666 which is why is it has a 10,000 lb towing capability.
And here’s a video from TFL on the Ford Expedition, showing the payload sticker from a December auto show as 1575 lbs:

By the way, don’t get me wrong: the interior of the Ford Expedition is super sexy and I love the new exterior. The new expedition is a very cool vehicle and it looks like an expedition vehicle. I can totally imagine adding a cargo cage on top to make it look more “expeditionary” — while it also having the updated interior that looks like a star trek console.
Note: the values at the bottom are the remaining capacities for each prospective trailer.
