One of the grandkids got too close to the porch in my daughters '13 Expedition and snapped the pivot 'post' that connects the door bracket to the mirror housing. I can see that the post/pin/plastic thing is snapped off from the door bracket but nothing else on the mirror is damaged. I'm going to try some JB weld plastic adhesive first, but unless I can find a better epoxy adhesive I'm not betting on that. So if that doesn't work, I'll get a door bracket, or the piece that's broken in the bracket, and re-attach the mirror housing to that.
I have two questions about this. 1) Where can I find the door bracket that the housing sits on and, 2) can someone tell me or direct me to a post, video, article or diagram that shows how to remove that pivot from the housing without breaking something else?
Right now she's got it gorilla taped together. I checked rock auto and they want around $150 for a new complete mirror, but I hate to spend that much for something I may be able to repair for less. Especially when nothing is really damaged but the connecting pin. But first I need to know how to pull that broken pivot out of the housing. Thanks for any help, suggestions or horror stories on this subject. Lee
