I love Fords period but little things get to me sometimes. The Expedition cabin air filter is in the same screwy location as my previous Flex. Detach this, unscrew those, pull back trim piece and make sure not to break the clips, undo this, remove filter, replace filter, reverse above steps etc. I had a Charger where this process took literally 30 seconds and that included getting a beer out of the fridge and drinking half of it. Changing air filters is one of the few things I can and have the time to do anymore with cars and I have to surrender this to the dealer/ oil change place. Sucks. Thanks Ford engineers.

Okay, rant ended.

The cabin air filter in the expedition is no tougher than the f150, a 10 minute process at best. Hell, you should see what I have to go through with our Audi, that would make you cry. Hahahaha

The cabin air filter on a family member’s 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan can be changed in 2-3 minutes, with no tools. On a family member’s 8th generation Impala - 5 minutes with a screwdriver. My 2014 Impala LTZ (9th generation). 10 minutes with one hand tool.

At least you have a HVAC air filter. My salesman lied to me when I bought a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, and said it had the filter. He also said the tire pressures could be individually displayed (also a lie).

Does this mean the space that holds the filter is just empty and you can put one there or is the plenum completely different thus offering no housing for the filter? My last vehicle didn’t come with the filter option but I could just put the filter there myself.

My wife old Hyundai I can swap the cabin filter by spinning 2 wing nuts inside the glove box and you just swap the filters. It takes longer to open the car door and bend down than it does to swap the filter. lol

If you were changing this filter on a weekly or monthly basis, I could see the desire for quick turnaround times. I'm a pretty busy person myself and value my free time, but 15-20 minutes a year isn't too much to ask. (for most)

I don’t think there is a place for one at all.

My 14 year old son and I did our's at 20k miles and it took us under 20 minutes. Good learning experience for him and he did all of the work after watch a YouTube video of someone doing it on their Super Duty.

The Expedition engine, sits partially under windshield cowl. The cabin filter is in the cowl. How would you design it, for easier filter change? Its only a part that is changed around, every 25K. I suggest watching a youtube video, prior to tackling something. The more familiar you are with something, the more simple they are. Fords fight, anyone trying to fix them. Its an old joke. My 2011 Mustang has the same design. It took 5 minutes to change.

It doesn’t take too long and that’s how I learned to change the Flex filter. Here’s where it is and how easy it is to change on the Charger. I like to change it more often. It can get dusty where I drive and is really humid in the summer
