Does anyone know why ford decided this was a good idea? And also how to fix it's incessant wobbling. Rear driveshaft at tcase, 1998 Expy. It feels like I'm driving a washing machine. Thanks in advance

It's a double cardan joint and they are rebuildable. You'll need 2 u-joints and a ball and spring kit. Pretty inexpensive fix and plenty of YouTube vids to help. When working properly they make for a nice quiet driveshaft.

Thank you so much dude. This has been boggling me. Now as for why? Is it because it's a heavy duty type deal? Because the angle of the shaft isn't that bad.

I believe it just gets rid of any driveshaft angle problems from articulation, maybe sag from being loaded etc. I've owned a few vehicles with them. Only problem I ever had was with a S-10 with one. I rebuilt it and still had a ton of driveshaft noise so I just had a custom shaft made without a DCJ and never had any issues. But when they do go bad they will shake the teeth out of your mouth, assuming you have teeth.

Yeah they will shake the hell outta you. An also break the extension housing. A second time. $500 in and I've got to find an alternative to this.
