reef, when i was trudging through 3 feet of water (comes up to about my bumper), I kept the truck in 2wd. Most of my time out "4x4ing" now is keeping the truck in 2wd just to make it fun and challenging.

Sick! I'm drooling over your truck :) I think one day I will jack it up that big. For now it's my daily driver ( at 10mpg lol)

Ok, So can I get away with putting them on my truck to make sure they fit good b4 I change my gears? I work 10 sec down the street. So It wouldn't be pushed. Could it be driven lightly b4 the gear swap? Thanks

I would say that would be fine. Just don't be surprised when it drives like a slug. Not really going to hurt anything though.

Depending on what you plan on doing you might want to go with 4.88.

I put in 4.56 front and rear plus master overhaul kit all from Randy's ring and Pinion. Great kit !!

Do you plan on towing?
do you want more off the line power or highway?

As of right now no towing. I sold my boat :( probably off the line power. With the lifted expy I don't go to much above 65 mph. Maybe 70.

Courtesy of toms89, a little math formula.

(current RPM's at a given speed)/3.73=x

x*4.88 will give you an estimate of your new engine RPM's given no change with the tires. I would say if you want any kind of freeway drive-ability, I would go with 4.56's personally. But I have never changed gears in a vehicle, I am going off of what I have learned from others.
