Howdy yall, looooooong time no see!

So I recently got an '05 Expedition with the truck bed option(F150 Supercrew) and the 5.4 engine with 200,000 miles on the clock. After watching numerous FordTechMakuloco videos, I'm convinced the locking pins in the cam phasers are kinda wollered out making that well-known phaser knock. So far everything else is fine, truck runs and drives really well! I'm okay with the bit of knock at hot idle for now, and from what I gather there's no major rush to replace parts yet. Mind you I definitely have a Melling M340HV oil pump, iron chain tensioners, and a full updated OEM timing kit in store down the road(maybe even roller followers and lash adjusters?), but I got.time.

I got to thinking though after seeing a phaser taken apart - if the cheap knockoff ones are so crappy, then why not just rebuild your own with the updated/upgraded locking pins, spring, and new oil vanes? Seems it'd be much cheaper and still much better quality since you'd be reusing OEM shells? Y'all's thoughts?

hydraulic tolerance work... if you can do that tolerance you can afford new phasers..
