Just out of curiosity, not that it ever killed the cat, but has anyone completely removed their cats? If so, what kind of gains or losses did you run into?

I haven't messed with them on the Expedition yet. But I did on my explorer. There was a massive gain in mpg, and acceleration on the highway was much much better. I was getting 24 mpg on the highway with the cats emptied. I finally replaced them to quiet it down so I can sell it, and the mpg dropped to 18-19, plus I have to drive about 68mph to even get those mpg.

My goal on the expedition initially is to replace them with high flow racing converters. Maybe some day I can make a test pipe setup with flanges etc. so that I can try installing and removing them for comparison.

We don't have e-check anymore, since most emissions are controlled by the ECM now. As far as I know I won't run into any trouble. I did figure the computer would read something was wrong, but still, those annoying things are boggin up 10-20 horse, easily.

Yeah, you're right, I guess I could alway gut 'em. Have a suspicion they're clogged anyway. If I endup gettin to it, I'll post the results. Thanks, again.

I have my rears deleted... no problems and defiantly improved power and sound is awesome... also have true duals with flowmaster 40s... been a awesome setup but thinking of removing 40s and going straight piped with a X-pipe in the spring

damn to bad i live in Cali. wht ever was on stock must stay. unless its a new muffler. thats about all you can do. 4 cats means 4 cats. manifolds mean manifolds. no headers no cat deletes. and no stright pipes. but im thinking about cutting my tail pipe. its already crushed from the axle hitting it. i wish i could remove my cats and at least run a true duel with no cats.

When you say deleted, did you gut them, or replace them with a straight pipe?
