I bought a 2020 Limited with 22 inch and CCD, according to the window sticker. The ride is super rough. My neighbor who has had many Ford trucks said the ride is especially rough. How can I figure out if the CCD isn't working, or what can I do to test it?

What tire pressure are you running and what tires? How many miles on it? One sure fire way to force the shocks into their stiffest setting is to unplug one, but that will make your dash light up like a Christmas tree.

I was at 41 but lowered it to mid - 30s. Didn't help much. It's at 39k. Is it difficult unplugging one, and would I have to unplug all 4 to test it?

I run 43 on the KR and the Stealth. Firm but not harsh. I found that anything lower than 41 didn't work at all for us. How many miles on the tires?

Just disconnecting one will disable the system and force them to max pressure/settings. They are very stiff at this stage, stiffer than sport.

I prefer sport setting myself, but my wife likes the softer normal mode.

If your truck is riding rough, something is wrong. They may not be magic carpet rides 100% of the time, but 80% of the time, the ride should be sublime. Did you just buy this car? How many miles are in it? The ccd is extremely sensitive, and the smallest variables will change the ride characteristics. However, if its rattling and jittery, it may be your mounts. Admittedly, the 4th gen expy/nav was not built well, so they are plagued with extremely noticeable structure issues.

I had a 20 nav, when I bought it, the ride was sublime even with 65k miles, however, the tires were bad so it allowed alot of jitters. Changed out the tires to pirelli scorpions, which helped the handling, but made the ride noticeably harsher.

Also, ford suvs have a huge ride bandwidth. One day, it'll ride smooth as glass, the next day, it'll ride like its a shopping cart. Depending on how long its sitting and outside changes, you may just be experiencing the shocks not performing optimally. What I used to do was put the ccd in sport mode when it would ride rougher, and it would help the ride considerably. Don't ask me why, but it worked.

If all else fails and you just want a smoother ride, grab some 20s and slap em on with new tires. Theres plenty of options to choose, and Amazon has some cheap ones if you dont want oem.

I bought it used from Carmax so I'm not sure how many miles are on the tires. Is there a way to estimate? So a lower pressure could cause it to ride even rougher?

I found that lower tire pressure makes for a softer or spongy ride. Run it to a tire shop and have them take a look at it for flats spots or out of round tires. Ask them to check the shocks while they are at it. Don't fall for a sales pitch! If you have a warranty from carmax take it to them and ask them to address your concerns.

If original, they are close to ageing out. There is a way to obtain the date of the tire out of all the #'s on the sidewall. Google the procedure, cause I've forgotten.

My Expedition has CCD and it rides real nice and smooth. Sometimes it even has a floating effect that can be annoying sometimes.
Try changing modes, to see if you feel a difference. Sport is firm, while normal and Eco are looser.
You could also try using FORScan to reset the learn feature, so it brings the specs back to factory.
The last thing would possible be tire brand. Some cause a terrible ride while others like Michelin Defenders give a great ride.
