Hello everyone!
I really need some help from the people here!! I have a 1998 Expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer. I really like it but it is making me crazy lately!
Here's what's going on:
My vehicle has what I can only refer to as a miss when I try to accelerate from almost any rpm in other than 1st gear. When I turn the vehicle off, I have a very strong odor of raw gasoline on the left side of the truck. If I take my fuel cap off while the engine is running, there is a lot of pressure coming out of the tank. Yes, I have a check engine on. No, I don't know the code, but I do know that they said it has something to do with the fuel canister.
The mechanic said that this could definitely be causing the driveability problems I am having. I do not like to pay people to fix things, so will someone please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it. I did not do a search before posting this because I am so frustrated with this problem. The vehicle also needs new O2 sensors. I have replaced all 8 COPs and new spark plugs in the last year. The vehicle has over 200,000 on it and I would like it to last at least another year. Getting about 12 MPG right now also.
