I have a 2003 Expedition xlt and about a month ago my CEL came on and would shut back off for a while then pop back up so I had it scanned and got a P0420. It wasn't really doing anything so I put it off. But for the past two weeks while going up hills or taking off from a stop my truck will start chugging and wont go past 10 - 15 mph. If I let of the gas and let the truck shift it will start to recover. Recently it has gotten worst and the CEL will blink and the truck will lose almost all power on a hill. I had it scanned again and got the P0420 again, a P2195, and a P0301. I was told the p0301 was was a misfire cyl 1 and to start with a coil pack so I did and got no change. Any Ideas before I get into the more expensive parts?

what is P0420/P2195...fix those probs and the misfire and "should" be good...how many miles do u have on the truck? at 100K the plugs need to be changed so I would do the coils and plugs if not done already...

just under 200k I bought it with just under 180k

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for
A damaged or failed oxygen sensor (HO2S)
Downstream oxygen sensor (HO2S)
wiring damaged or connected improperly
The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / muffler / exhaust pipe
Retarded spark timing
The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings
Leaking fuel injector or high fuel pressure
Cylinder misfire
Oil contamination

P2195 O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Lean Bank1 Sensor 1

Potential causes of a P2195 code include:
Oxygen (O2) or A/F ratio sensor or sensor heater malfunction
Open or short in O2 sensor circuit (wiring, harness)
Fuel pressure or fuel injector problem
Faulty PCM Intake air or engine vacuum leaks
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Fuel pressure too high or too low
PCV system leak/fault A/F sensor relay faulty
MAF sensor malfunction
ECT sensor malfunction Fuel pressure too low
Fuel leak
Air suction in air intake system

So pretty a needle in a haystack. I replaced my alternator shortly before this started happening which involved taking the air intake of, but I did check to make sure the two hoses and the two sensors were plugged back in.

I would prob start by changing all ur O2 sensors...under hood and under truck in exhaust system
