Finally got to detail my baby. Anyone use a clay bar when detailing? What kit do you recommend?

I did a real quick clay bar treatment. Pleased, but I want to do it again and take my sweet time.

I absolutely think clay bar is fantastic before doing any other detailing on the car. Except of course the clay bar is a pain in the ass and if you drop it, you might as well throw it away. Here’s what I’ve been using with great success over the last year.

I also had used a fine grade pad on my DA Orbital but couldn’t find the description in my past orders.

I’ve never used a bar. I use mothers speed clay pad and a high lubricity foam soap after using carpro ironx. Whole truck gets decon with ironx, clayed during foam wash, then rinsed. Polish, glaze, wax, done

That's the truth! I dropped my first bar in the kit. All I could think about was a grain of sand leaving swirl marks all over it. :/

Yeah I gotta say between the Mitt and the Pad on the orbital (I even bought a smaller diameter pad for some tight spots) they are so easy to maintain and use.

I try and do the “clay bar” treatment before every detail because I think it makes a huge difference when then base layer is smooth.

I started using the mitts and then went to orbital pads when I needed to do an acre and a 1/2 of body panels on this (pic taken after a day long detail)...

Haha! I am sure that does take all day to finish detailing. I bet the orbital pads speed up the process quite a bit.

The orbital made a typical 2 day job down to 1. It never fails the day after when all the waxed and polished have settled in that you notice something you missed along the way and have some touch up to day...but at least now that’s day 2 instead of some other day after that!!

I would question a $200 ceramic coat job for windows and wheels with sealer. Professionals charge $2000+ to seal a car and so full ceramic coat for 8 years of protection

I would charge $200 to put some rainx down, wax your wheels, and throw a coat of megs sealer down and claim “1 year protection”

It's a deal he's running, he offered a 5 year plan for $1000.
Check him out on Facebook Jarod Cain. He puts mirror shines on paint
