Looking for a skid plate to mount under the front of my 2000 Expy.
Anyone out that can recommend a good place/site that sells 'em?

... Or do I have to fab it?

Like a skid plate?

I think the Rancho one that I have only works with their lift kit. (although you could easily modify it, if you know how to weld)

Yeah, a skid plate ( pardon the brain-fart! )

Am thinking I'll make a cardboard template and have it fabricated at a local shop.
I'd really be interested in seeing what's out there on the market too. Might be cheaper, who knows?

Look up the rancho skid plate, it's a good design. A tube frame with an aluminum center plate.
It bolts between the tow hook mounts on the frame and the and the lower subframe.

It wouldn't be too hard to fab up something similar.

I think I am going to go the cardboard and steel route too. What thickness of steel and type did you go with for your armor Walnut?

My 98 has one on it. I want to swap it to my 2000 but the bolts just spin. I think it's held by those clip nuts, and that they broke. But it looks factory. Did none of the Expys come with a factory plate?

Seeing as i was already out in the garage working on wiring my lights up, I figured id snap you picture so you didnt have to wait til tomorrow. All I did was use ratchet straps to support the gas tank while I unbolted the factory metal straps enough to slide in my stainless steel sheet metal. Is it perfect? No. Is it pretty? No. But for 11 bucks and a half an hour, its a hell of a lot better than no skidplate:D
