Climate control for second row

The only way to get the heat to come on in the second room seems to be to manually push the buttons in the back of the middle console. This is hard to do when in the driver's seat. Powering on the rear control from the dash seems to power on only the third row. Am I missing something or is this by design?

I am confused (other may be too given you posted this 7 hours ago and have no responses).

If you press “REAR” on the center stack it will bring up controls for the rear of the vehicle...both the second and third row. If you check, the changes you make on the center stack are reflected on the little screen facing the second row. So there are no controls for the third row, they’re just along for the ride with the second row.

But maybe I’m not understanding your question.

Ah. You might have a manufacture problem then. One member on here had no air coming out of one of the second row vents. Turned out the factory failed to install the ducting to that vent.

So the rear controls are SUPPOSED to make air come out of the second and third row vents. If yours is not working that way, it may be time for a warranty call to the dealer.

When the heads light is not on there is air coming out only out of the gill looking vent at the bottom next to the third row seat in the right.

Color me stumped. I get air out of the vents up top on the second row all the time because my kids fiddle with them all the time claiming the “wind” is making them hot or cold. And I don’t ever futz with the middle control.

Are you running it on auto and the heat is on? It’s probably sending it to the “floor” which only blows out of the vent on the passenger side panel between the second and third row. Try turning the temp way down and see if it switches to the ceiling vents.

Ok, it's not on auto and when I lowered the temp it made air come out of the ceiling vent. But when I raise the temp the air stops coming out of the ceiling and instead comes out of passenger side panel.

How do I get warm air to come out of ceiling vent? Or is this not designed to do that

Ah HA! A solution. I think warm air will only come out on the floor (or the side panel or whatever) in the back unless you take it off AUTO and force it to the upper vents.

Yes, by default warm air will come out of the floor vents in the rear but you can override it to come out of the ceiling vents to. I can get mine to blow warm out of either or both the floor and ceiling in the rear if I manually override it.

And that's using the screen in the dash, right? And not reaching over to the manual controls in the second row

And thy other thing I observed is if I lower the temp enough it'll not the air to the ceiling vent and if I raise it out goes back to thy floor vent

I'm pretty sure that you can't force the floor/ceiling vents from the front. You can turn off auto, but to change the vents you have to use the 2nd row controls. At least I haven't found a way to do it. For me I select ceiling in the 2nd row controls, then use Auto from the front to switch between floor and ceiling.

I use the ceiling vents to dry out my hockey gear on the way home from the rink... very handy!

All I care about is that the ceiling vents send air conditioning to the dogs in the back. They don't care about heat. Maybe I'll go back there and see what's happening.
