i have a 2000 w/5.4 every thing is stock and im looking to start upgrading w/ bolt on parts (chip, CAI, headers and flow master. so i've been shopping for a cold air intake and i wondering whats the difference betweeen all the different ones that im finding on ebay and google. i found one for 80.00 and one for 150.00 and then there's the k&n for about 222.00 they all look the same though. should i just go with the cheapest one and save $ or should i get the k&n. is there really a difference. i saw some for 3 & 4 hundred but again they look the same as all the others. which one should i get. any body out there have any ideas?

I'm running the edge CS on level 2.... but if I would do it again I would go with a custom tune such as PHP and order a gyphron.... or another similar custom tuner

On the note of CAI's

The one benefit they all have over the factory intake's is that they replace that nasty inlet tube - the one between the MAF and the throttle body.

I have replaced that tube with a mandrel bent 3,5" velocity tube, whilst still using the factory air filter and housing, and that one change alone I believe has made a positive difference in performance. Comparing the two, how could it not?

I think its kind of ironic that they call them cold air intakes when the factory intake gets air from the fender outside the engine bay and all the aftermarket kits get air from inside the engine bay.

The biggest restriction is the snorkle that attaches it to the fender. It necks down to a relatively small diameter. Thats what the gotts mod addresses.
