I want put an intake on my 5.4L 01' expy and I was recommended a intake from a company I've never heard of, l3 racing
So they have 2 models a cold air intake with heat shield

Or a ram air intake

The cold intake is $75 and the ram is $55 should I get one of these or spend the 250 for a name brand intake.
My buddy bought one for his 05' Chevy and loves it.

At the end of the day, it is just a tube and filter. All depends if you trust the filter from the company, as that is most important. Shield or no shield really doesn't matter. Air temp is going to be about the same under the hood. Unless I am seeing it wrong, the only way it would be ram air is if it had a collector facing the direction of travel, creating positive air pressure within the tube.
