I'm going to be honest. for a performace stand point. You can't go wrong. For an economic standpoint ehh... not too much of a loss or gain. Actually something interesting I found with mine. Is it performs better with the hood popped due to more air being taken in. I recomend it totally. As I said tho no mpg gain or loss. Keep in mind everything you do to your truck makes you want to go faster makes you want to see what you have. I have the air raid. Also DON'T beleive anything about the throttlebody spacers. for 250 to 300 (good equipement) you can't go wrong

With great power comes great responsibility

I wouldn't say to not believe anything about the throttle body spacers. I was lucky enough to get one off of craigslist for 40 bucks so i figured why not. I have the injen intake along with the spacer and i went from averaging about 10-11mpg to around 14 sometimes 15 depending on how much highway driving i do. It really all depends on how you drive as an individual. I myself would recommend a spacer strictly from the fact i have one and i saw a difference.

You might not see one cause you probably drive differently than i do, so it really is a personal choice.

As far as intakes, check ebay for some descent priced ones. thats where i got mine. Oh ya...and i really wouldn't recommend driving with your hood popped....that's a horrible accident waiting to happen fyi...hit a bump and it could release the latch and boom...there goes your hood into your windshield.

Also try autoanything.com .... they have good prices and quite a few user reviews to help guide your decision

lol Do you know thats what it was coming out of the factory? 13 to 16. You must have cleaned out your throttle body/ new air filter. Keeping up with maintance on these vehicle ie fluids filters etc... is important for fuel economy. I haven't yet done it but its coming is the sniper tuning. I got my throttle body spacer for free. He is right it is an all matter of oppinion. I took mine off tho and it drives the same way as with it on. I tach drive 1500 to 2100 rpm so its all in how you drive cold air is a good performance way to go

Well whatever the stock mpg said it was...the guy that i bought it from was averaging about 10-11....and if you think about...the sticker mpg is never super accurate...and the range was basically 12-15 on the stick so it was pretty close.

So yes i bumped it back up to "stock" specs, but i did it by adding the air intake and the spacer. so in my eyes they did a world of good lol Then of course i got my fuel injectors cleaned and everything changed out. So the best i can say Dan...is start small with things like the intake, then maybe an exhaust, then a spacer if you find a good deal on one...see what you like and customize your truck to the way you want it to be. I will say one thing about getting an aftermarket intake though...it's worth it alone for the way it makes your engine bay look....its so much better than the huge black stock air filter box

I use the aem brute force. You don't have to oil the filter, just clean it once in awhile. That was a major selling point for me. Autoanything is the shit, they have a price match for a full year, which is pretty unheard of. I also have the throttle body spacer from jet and a flowmaster and all that definately made a difference over stock. You also get better airflow with a cold air intake, the stock box is super restrictive.

Yea, I've heard that the stock air system is the coldest on the F150 when compared to after market kits.

The thing is that aftermarket kits are supposed to be a lot less restrictive than a stock system.

So are the throttle body spacers worth it? The only way I can justify cost of upgrades to the wife/accountant is in a gas mileage savings.

4x4Dude has had some luck with them, but the general consensus is that they are just expensive paper weights.

Must suck that the wifey's an accountant, huh ;) Can't sneak and mod money past her. :D

Nope, can not sneak anything by her.

I had heard a lot of conflicting information and most here has seemed pretty knowledgeable so I thought I would ask.

Exhaust... Who needs an exhaust when you have an exhaust cut out that you can open when you choose. You should see the look on peoples faces when I drive by. They have no idea what is under the hood. :p

Its just as loud as my mustang but much more throaty if you know what I mean.
