We bought our 2018 Limited brand new last winter. Noticed that when the weather was really cold and we used the remote start for a cold start (first thing in the morning, for example), the cabin would sometimes fill with an electric/oil type burning smell. The odor was so strong and noxious, we would need to air the cabin out a bit before driving. Ultimately, the smell would disappate once the car had been driven.
We assumed it was something related to the car being new and would utlimately work itself out. However, that's not the case as it's back this winter.
Doesn't happen often...only occasionally when the weather is really cold and doing a cold start using remote start (that said, maybe those are just the times we're more likely to make use of the remote start - can't say I've yet gone out on super-cold mornings and started the car from inside the cabin).
Yesterday, I smelled a similar odor outside the car after having driven about 20-30 minutes at highway speeds. Didn't notice the smell inside the cabin at all, but definitely present outside the car. Seemed to be coming mostly from around the front right grill area.
Anyone else notice this sort of smell? Any thoughts?
