Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and this will be my first post. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix my problem. I have searched the threads and haven't came across someone with my same problem.
I have an 03 Expedition XLT 5.4L. I broke off the shift handle on the column somehow and also the piece that the handle connects to is also broken. I have another column from the junkyard and ready to swap the handle and the other part?? (cylinder) but can't figure out how it comes apart w/o breaking it? Attached are some pics of the part I'm trying to remove. The (red) arrow is the piece that is broken off on my old column. The pic is of the piece on the new column (what it sould look like). The (green) arrow on the second pic is the washer type piece that I don't know how to get off on the back side of the cylinder. I don't know if it's just compressed onto the cylinder or if there is some trick of removing it. If I pry on it with a screwdriver it almost seems like I'm going to break the sleeve that the cylinder goes through. The (orange) arrow on the first pic is where the shift handle slides inbetween the two sides. The (blue) arrow is where the pin slides through the two sides and the shift handle and again the (red) arrow is the where it is broken on the old part. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
