Anyone know what might be the culprit? I have removed the console on my '03 XLT 5.4L 4x4. Ever since its been removed the battery has been draining itself. I get about three days before no start.

In the interim, I just unhook battery and no current drain. I'm hoping someone knows the electrical systems better than me and can shed some light.

There is some sort of module right in the middle between the seats with an orientation arrow that says it must point forward. What's that?

I would think that when you removed the console that you may have caused a wire to short to ground Take the connectors and try to see if any shorted out also Suggest that you take and put an amp meter in series with the Neg battery terminal and wire See what the amp draw is and then start pulling fuses till you get a very low reading in milli amps In the meantime I'll look at the prints and see what I can tell you

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't taken the time to put a meter on it. It's too cold for me to spend a bunch of time outside. And I don't have a heated shop...... (wishlist) And I'm thinking it will go away with everything reinstalled.

I'm guessing there is switch that closes to ground when it's disconnected and that's what's causing it. I appreciate your looking in the books for me.

from what I have seen so far is it may be associated with the power ports/cig lighter circuits These are feed from fuses 37,39 and 41 they are 20 amp fuses try pulling them and see what happens or let me know what other items were disconnected so I can look further

My prints are very intensive but the information I can get on the center console is only from the owners manual so far

would suggest that you obtain a copy of the

ford workshop manual on DVD can be obtained from seller "morpheousking" on e-bay cost about $10.00 much better than Clymer or Chilton and also includes wiring diagrams
