I bought a few gallons of Zerex G-05 to do a coolant change in the expedition. I took a glance tonight and could not find a radiator drain plug, so I googled it and all I found were unanswered threads with people who cannot find a drain plug on theirs as well. Do you just have to pull a hose on these trucks to drain it down? I know on the F150 there is a drain *** on the passanger side but it's not there on mine.

My memory is pretty bad, at times. I've changed coolant in my expy twice now. Second time was easy...had it at a small auto shop to pay them to replace lower hose...WAY easier on a lift! I just dumped the new AF in after mechanic replaced hose & topped up after running. But, first time, in driveway, I THINK I did the following: I was replacing thermostat anyway. I removed factory T-stat. Removed upper hose from radiator. Started motor, ran clean water through motor with garden hose (No rust, original coolant still looked like new) When clear water ran through I began pouring gallon after gallon of distilled water through to remove city water. After like, 20 gallons or so, I began to add new coolant. When I could see color change with water/coolant mix running out of radiator I shut down engine, installed new thermostat & connected hose. Topped up with coolant in reservoir.

Now, that's the best I can recall. I may be forgetting a step, or may have done something a bit different, but, that's the best I can remember. Good luck.

Thanks all for replies, like i said I didn't look hard but didn't see anything obvious. Planning on doing it tonight. BB did you have to remove plastic shroud to see it? Or any of that stupid rubber matting?

So I found the red cap and turned fiddled for a while and got it. Thanks for pointing that out it was in a hard to reach place. Got it all done and fresh coolant in so I'm good.
