Crank But No Start

2006 Eddie Bauer with 112,000 miles. Was running errands this morning with the wife and kids, stopped at 7-11 and when we came out it started fine but died after about 5 seconds and now won't restart. It felt and sounded like it ran out of gas. Started a couple of times but never got above a couple hundred rpms. Now it just turns over and doesn't even try to catch.

Already replaced the fuel pump driver module in hopes that was the problem, it was a little corroded but after putting the new one in it still won't start. Checked every fuse in the panel and they were all good too.

Anything else I can check before just buying a new fuel pump in hopes that's what it is? I know these don't have a schrader valve to test fuel rail pressure so I'm kind of out of ideas.

Two things to try reset the fuel shut off switch
Get a can of starting fluid and try spraying some into the throttle body to see if it starts

When was the fuel filter changed

Checked the fuel shut off switch and it's not the culprit. It starts right up if you spray starter fluid down the intake so it's definitely not getting gas. I will change the fuel filter in the morning but I've never seen a fuel filter completely clog up all of a sudden.

If I change the filter and it's still not starting I will be ordering a fuel pump.

It could be your fuel pump. One trick that a friend of mine who owns his own Service garage, said if you bang on the bottom of the tank with your fist at the well where the fuel pump sits you sometimes can free them up and at least get them going enough to get you home. He said it doesn't always work. He also told me that you should never let the fuel pump get uncovered because they use fuel to cool the pump so don't wait for the reserve light to come on if you want to have longevity of your fuel pump. I hope this helps.
