Open for any ideas.

My 2016 XLT has been having intermittent issue with the steering wheel cruise resume control and radio volume control. My dealer suggested a SYNC update to solve the issue. On Friday they spent 6 hours trying to download the information from Ford and managed to get the system to where the screen is black, I have no radio, phone, no back up camera, heat controls, etc, everything associated with the screen controls are dead. I needed the Expedition over the weekend so it is going back on Tuesday for them to continue with Ford engineering.

Any ideas on what happened? Thanks.

They probably tried to do the firmware update over wifi or over the air. I always had issues updating my 2017 using those methods.

The one for sure way, I found was to use the USB Thumb drive method. Download the firmware using Fords specific instructions for updating via USB Key / Drive method (SyncMyRide). Start the truck, put the drive in the slot in the console and let it run.

Thought I would close this out. Dealer had to order a new APIM control module; that their download fried, so I now have a functioning truck and they did not charge me.
