Differences between 98 and 99 expys

I wanted to get the Gibson Extreme Dual Exhaust for my 98 Eddie Bauer. Their website says it only fits 99-02. I contacted them and they said that there are major differences between 98 and 99 and that I wouldnt be able to make it work. What are the major differences? Is this something I cant work around?

Cant be that different can it? I made a shop do mine so i cant say much but ... everything else is interchangeable or so i have heard up to the new body style ... 97-02? So it makes me wonder ....
