If you are like me and don't want your trailer hitch on your expy cuz you don't want it to get stolen or trip over it in your driveway and you don't want it in your expy in-case you crash and don't want it bouncing off your head then you can do what I did and put it in backwards. Meaning put it in you receiver from underneath your expy where your spare is.

That is interesting. I keep mine in the normal way in case I get rear ended. Low enough speed and the offending car will not touch the bumper haha. Saved my rear bumper twice in the last couple of years. I figure if someone steals it, its theirs. Hitches are pretty cheap. Is there a hitch pin hole on the other end too?

I have a locking hitch pin but I actually leave it in the garage when not in use. Its hard on my legs when I leave her in... I'll forget its there but usually get reminded. :doh2:

Interesting idea though! Never would have considered that.

I have a pintle hook in mine. Good to know. Usually I'll hit it with my leg before I take it off and put it in the cargo area

Haha by leaving mine in all the time I have trained myself to avoid it. In fact I do this weird looking hopping motion when walking around trucks without a hitch in... Its just habit haha. :idiot:

This could be an urban legend but I heard in NJ you can get a ticket for having it in when not towing and are opening yourself up to a lawsuit if someone hurts themselves on it... in fact if it sticks out more than 6 inches it must have an orange flag on it .... I could be wrong but in the peoples republic of NJ it would not surprise me

In Commiefornia it cannot obstruct the view of your license plate. I am waiting for some texting college chick with no insurance to rear end me with my hitch in.

I have a lock pin on mine too. My kids hurt them selves on it before so I use to leave it in the garage but some times I would need it to tow something and not have it so this way I always have it but cant see it and my shins are now safe!

i always have mine in. its a life saver. been hit a few times with it, and also hit a few things with it, usually fences that just popped up out of no where. i swear they werent there before i started to back up. i usually take it out before i go off roading but lately ive been too lazy to take it off. ive hit a few rocks with it, but its all good. i have a masterlock locking pin and have had no problems with it. im gonna keep it in on my new truck as well.

also in some states like Pennsylvania its illegal to drive with it in the hitch. so check your local state laws. i prefer to have mine in. had a friend driving his f350 get hit by a lady on her phone in her mercades. the police showed up and asked him to move his truck. he tipped the mercades radiator in 2. so im gonna keep mine in, shin pain and all.

Mine wont come out. I've tried over & over & over. It needs to because of limited parking in front of my house. I don't want to dent the boy's little gmc.

It is probably rusted in place. We had that with a buddy who bought an old chevy pickup from a guy. We tied it to a tree and he took off at about 15mph. Pulled the receiver and tow bar right off... Still had the hitch stuck in it.

That being said, try heating the receiver, and PB Blasting it. Might get lucky and break it loose. I pull mine out and WD-40 it about once a month.
