Do any programmers adjust for ethanol?

I'm waiting for a reply from Sniper Tuning about a tune for gas with ethanol in it. When ethanol was added to the gas here, I was using a Superchip. My gas mileage tanked when that happened. I never had a problem until ethanol was added. Are there any programmers that can give me a tune with the use of ethanol?

Yep, As soon as I get back from my pre-christmas travels I will buckle down and do some tunes for you guys. I really don't think the 10 percent ethonol would effect the gas mileage that much, but if they are lying and putting more than that then you need to up the timing to compensate, but that would mean the octane would be more than 87 if they are using that much ethonol......

OH and nobody I know of makes "canned" tunes for higher ethonol blends. My tunes are truly custom and tested before I let someone else have them. I ran on e85 when I lived in the chicago area and learned quite alot about the stuff and about how to make the ford computers automatically compensate as well.

In that case I'll probably be ordering the Sniper Tuner this weekend, along with the new differential and gears. I'll tell the guys at Sniper that you referred me, green03.

You can get their "special forces" package and then I can change your tunes via email if you go the flash route or get the chip and I can burn it for you and you get 6 shift on the fly positions. Or you can get the stuff directly from me after the new year.

My tunes use a different software than what they are selling to make the changes in my tunes, but their "special forces" will allow you to have the equavalent of Hypertech, Superchips, etc and I can make changes to your tune later.

And hell if you are close enough to Spring, TX we can even do some custom dyno tuning at Connley's performance if you want. You can rent the dyno for $125 an hour with wideband O2 logging.

Someone at Sniper finally contacted me, and he/she said that there are adjustments that can be made specifically for ethanol with the Special Forces tuner.

Yes you can add fuel and timing with the special forces software, but the tune would be married to either for gas or high ethonol. I have a way of writing a tune with my software that would allow the computer to automatically adjust the fueling parameters without freaking out the computer. Overall the Special Forces is a nice package, but if you really want something special I can do that for you.
BTW I can make some screenshots of the Special Forces software if you want to see all the parameters you have to work with. I started with that package but ended up with their pro package known as "Delta Force" which isn't cheap, but I had special needs at the time.

Yeah, I know I want you to make the tunes for me, and I ordered the auburn pro differential and motive 4.10 gears yesterday, they should arrive in about 2 days. I'll post my results when they're installed.

Sweet.... I want to put 4.10s in mine too. I wonder how much it affects the highway mileage. Your in-town mileage should actually get better. Next upgrade would be a higher stall converter........

well you can equate it to a standard transmission of starting at 1500 rpms (or whatever your stock stall is) or 2500 rpms (higher stall converter).

There is alot more power available at 2500 rpms than there is at 1500 to start the vehicle moving.

Test yours by watching the tach when launching from a dead stop. Where the rpms start is your "flash stall". If you hold the brakes and floor it and before the tires spin this is "brake stall". Flash stall will always be higher.

Also when choosing a converter make sure it is built right and not sloppy and don't exceed 2500 rpm stall. A sloppy converter will make alot of heat and kill your economy in town. I can recommend a few that would be good with prices starting around $250 if you have the 4r70w trans. If you have the 4r100 it may be a bit more.

I just got the differential and gears installed yesterday, and I definitely notice the difference. I haven't really been able to test it though since I want to get through the wear in period first. What other options are there after the tune and the higher stall?
