This is irrelevant to lifts but today something strange happened to my flowmaster. I was driving back from work in another city and at that time I could actually hear my muffler but ever since I got back into town it has gotten quieter. It's worrying me lol. I don't know if its in my was, what do you think it is? Should I take it to a muff shop?

Clardy, the only way that you are going to fit 38's is with modification of the firewall and cutting the front bumper. Also, you are going to end up cutting about 1" off the front and rear of the rear wheel wells and also cutting off about 1.5" at the top of the rear wheel wells (with the cut being tapered accordingly). So, sure, you can fit the tires, but I think you are going to find the price of the cutting to make it cost prohibitive. You would be better off adding in a 3" body lift and then trying to fit the tires. That way you would only have minimal rubbing, mainly when you have the truck twisted up.

thermo,
i have read your posts and also went and checked out some of your stuff on the fordtrucks forum as well... i have listed pretty much my entire setup under my vehicle profile i am about to purchase tires for this vehicle and i am kicking around either 37s or 38s as i have stated i have what amount to 2" spacers on my rig so that will change the turning aspect as far as hitting torsion bars "a" frame and such i am also going to be running a 17" rim with 4.25" backspace which is slightly less than stock of 4.5" backspace
on here you mention getting 40s under one with only 4" essentially i should have 5-6" of lift after all is said and done do you think that with some cutting i will be able to clear the 38s

to give you an idea... I have 11" of lift with 37s... so 37s with 4" your gonna need to do a lot of :superhack:

thanks for the input guys i am thinking that i am still gonna go that direction... i am prepared to do some cutting and that part doesn't bother me or my buddy the body man... as for the 3" body lift it is being installed right now with the 3" of suspension i want the big tires just hate highly lifted truck for the center of gravity issues and the fact that showing your under carriage is a little much... anyhow before i make the final purchase on the tires i will be test fitting to see what all it will take to cut or enough to clear... i have even contacted bushwacker about the material that their cutout fender flares are made of (fit the same model year f150) so that i can customize a set to fit the expy... that is another thing i want a total custom look that no one else has as soon as i get home from here in afghanistan i will begin working on it and start posting some pics for everyone to gander at... thanks again all for the replies

front flares will fit no problem... the back will have to be trimmed for the door... EGR made a 6 piece flare that went around that problem of the rear doors

i wish you all the success. i am currently running a 4" susp and will be putting 3" BL on this summer with some 37's, so a somewhat similar setup. i have looked into the bushwacker flares as well, and i hope you are able to make some fit your rig. i think they would look sharp.

I was wondering if the 33" terra grapplers by nitto will come out from beneath the fenders on my 2000 expy. It's already on a factory lift and I believe the backspacing is 4.5 on it's factory 17" rim. Also if I were to go with those now would the tires look smaller with a 3" body lift

I think you mean terra grapplers by nitto, and it depends on how wide the tire is. 295/70r17(11.5" wide) would not stick out but the 33x12.5x17 might stick out. And yes if you get a 3" body lift after you get 33s they will look very small.

I have a place that will do the body lift for 700. What would be a good size tire to put on it? I'm looking for a wider we as well that way I don't need to worry about rims right

well with a 3" BL and 2" or 3" spacer and a torsion bar crank many run a 315/75 or 35x12.5 on either stock rims or 8" wide rims

only the front has torsion bars... rear would need coil spacers... pretty cheap on ebay...

basically the bars have a bolt that you can tighten which will lift the front end of the expy... i'll look for a link discussing this in depth.. it has been discussed a lot... but i need to make a picture "how to"

Because my front end has significant clearance between the wheel well and tire. The back end sets a little lower. I will post pics as soon as I can

If I were to put 2" coil spacers in the back and slightly larger shock all around that would provide me with a lift correct? Ive just been google things and wonder if that sounds accurate

spacer will lift the rear of your expy while cranking the torsion bars will lift your front.... shocks do not lift a vehicle... they simply stop oscillation... if you dont have shocks your springs would bounce for a long time... but with longer shocks to complement the spacers you will get longer suspension travel and the ride will be better...

If I bought 2" coil spacers would I need to get bigger shocks?
Also about how much clearance would 2" coil spacers give me without a 3" body lift
