Guys just to share my experience with installing 1" wheel spacers on my stealth. 1. It makes the car look worst. The wheel sticks out little too much. It just makes it look toy like. 2. The steering just feel worst. It feels just not right. 3. The ride honestly feels worst for some reason. 4. The front will vibrate above 80mph. Just avoid dont waste your time and $ like me:)

Could you elaborate please?

How is the steering worse? Too much play? Turning radius larger?

How is the ride worse? Harsher?

The entire front of the vehicle from windshield forward vibrates? Or past the front wheels?

Wheel spacers can either work fine, or be a mess. Your moving each wheels geometry out by anything from 1-3 inches. These SUVs are designed to have the rims at a certain distance apart, that's why they design the offset, and width at the factory. The goal is to have a tire/rim combo that can support the weight of the vehicle with up to 8 people, and possibly pulling a heavy trailer. By taking a 4 wheel combo dimension, say 80 inches, and make it 86, steering and ride are going to change. Normally a wider wheel width should increase cornering prowess on a vehicle, at the cost of quicker steering. But, by just popping on spacers, rather than a complete wider suspension, so many variables can happen. Now as far as his ride getting worse, that's also understandable, your taking the load that's absorbed by the tire/rim/shocks, and moving it to a farther spot than factory designed. People don't realize that a lot of the ride quality is from the tires, and rims absorbing the harshness. Don't believe it? Pop on a new set of quality tires on your SUV, and see how much better the ride is. Well that's my take, I'm sure I'll get bashed or get likes, but like ole blue eyes sang, That's Life! That's what all the people say!

That's always been my concern too. All the vehicle mechanics and systems are designed and simulated / optimized on a computer these days. On a newer vehicle that includes all the various software programs managing the vehicles trajectory in real time. If you fiddle with the dimensions here and there … it will almost guaranteed lead to an unexpected result. Not when driving around the block or through mud or probably even normal driving. Most likely fine there. BUT ... in an emergency situation (80mph was mentioned). Who knows?

I'm not saying don't do it. Just wont do it myself unless its on my Beater that I turn into a Mud Bog slogger where I'm optimizing for off road. Then I wont drive 80mph on an interstate. And I don't really know just guessing.

I've always worried that just lifting a truck does the same thing. I don't like the rake on the 3rd Generation trucks, but with all the highway driving I do on very congested roads, I'm concerned that raising the front would cause some loss in handling when I may need it the most.

I’ve had bora 1.25” adapters on my 16 for 20,000 miles. Not one issue. O difference in quality of ride or steering ability

If you used 1” you wouldve had to cut off some of the lug bolts sticking out prior to reinstalling the wheels or they wouldn’t sit flush, causing wobble and vibration, which is what it sounds like happened to you.

Get a quality pair (bora, hub and wheel centric) and you’ll be fine

If they are vibrating they are most likely not hubcentric (or for that matter lug centric) and therefore not centered.

The steering is not as sharp, on highway turns it feels more understeer.

The ride for some strange reason feel more harsh maybe the wheels are push out and the angle just slightly off resulting in a harsher ride. I am super sensitive to these things

Yes its hub centric and my stealth wheels have enough recess to accommodate a 1.25 inch spacer.

When over 75mph the floor start to have a slight vibration. It could i just need to really torque down the nuts correctly who knows

I took it out because i dont feel safe driving very fast and having a part in between the big heavy truck and my 22" wheels. Also 1.25" makes the car looks a little cartoony. I say .50" to .75" would look the best but in the end safety #1

From the pic it looks better without spacer

If steering has gone all Toyota-ish, you know you're doing something wrong

These things are supposed to handle shockingly well, that's a huge part of the appeal

Cartoonish bc you put them on with no lift or beefier tires.

Installed H&R 35mm in front and 40mm for the rear. Had to shave a little bit on front bolts as it touching the rim. I have been driving the car for over 30000 kms now with spacers on our highway daily with 140km/hr (87mp/h) 200kms daily commute. No issues. In fact, the car feels more in control going around round-abouts and corners as its got a wider track. The Expedition just looks better with the wheels on the "right" off set and not looking that it missed leg days during workout.
