Do you think it is possible or not and why?

I am wondering what your thoughts are on building a Sub system including subs, amp, box, amp wire kit and wood(for a box). I want to know your thoughts...

I know next to nothing about audio, but the amp alone should be atleast $100 bucks (probably a lot more). Where are you getting $125 from...? For that money you can buy 1/2 of one of my 4 tires. You are looking at more money than that if you are going to build a system.

I don't mean to be a jerk, just trying to put it in perspective...

Maybe

I didn't "build" one but through my local pawn shops I put one together for a reasonable price. I've found a 10" sub is plenty for me. So I got a Polk 10" in a box that fit in the back with the seats up. Since its a pawn shop I jewed them down to $25. $65 retail just for the sub. Keep in mind a 4x8 sheet of good MDF is $30+. Then I did some reading and found my sub can handle up to 560 rms. that seems ridiculous to me. I found a small amp that I can attach to my box and remove easily for $50 at a different pawn shop. It's only a 90w 4chan but I bridged the channels and I've got it dialed at aprox. 160w. You would have to hear it to believe it! The wiring is where I cheated a little. It was already installed when I bought the rig. I also already had my own Pioneer Premier deck.
The other guy is right tho. A good amp can really set you back. It just depends on what you are going for.

My answer would be 'of course'. I don't think that I would be happy with the way that it sounds, but it certainly could be done.

I think that an 8" bazooka would sound better, and not cost much more than what you want to spend.

I just wanted to ask, but I did it! I got a decent amp off amazon, along with a wire kit and a pair of 10" subs, built the box and painted it for less than $125!!

subs:
Amazon.com: OBCON - 10" Subwoofer - DVC: Car Electronics

amp:
Amazon.com: Pyramid PB717X 1,000-Watt 2-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier: Car Electronics

Wire kit:
Amazon.com: Boss KIT-2 Complete 8 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit: Car Electronics

i used 5/8"plywood and built a box that is .80 cu ft per side...

I am SICK of people ripping off my big dollar systems so i built a low dollar one and made the box small enough and removable, mounted the amp under the 2nd row seats. I cant believe how good it sounds honestly, and shakes the crap out of my truck! I tuned it to 34hz, and plays pretty low!

The last system they stole was a pair of Kicker COMPVR's 12's and a 5 channel Soundstream amp, along with hacking my wire kit, etc... I am using the factory amp to power my Polk 6x8's in the doors, and they never stole the head unit anytime which is a Sony ES...

The last system I did was bolted down! I had it bolted through the floor with four 1/4-20 bolts and fender washers. We were gone for the weekend(my truck sits outside-garage has to much crap in it) and the "popped" the lock and ripped out the box which actually broke apart and the amp too. I have now removed the door locks on both doors from the rods inside the doors, added an alarm, but remove my box every night. It sucks that we have to go through this to be able to keep stuff we bought! I put a sign in my yard that said "to the punk who stole my system, come back and we will settle it like men!" Didnt get an answer...LOL
