My wife gets uncomfortable on long drives with the way the headrest sits. Simply no way to get it where it works for her. We’ve tried various pillows and neck pillows and nothing really get around the headrest being a problem. Taking it completely out seems dangerous. I’m considering trying to take it out and bending it back so it’s not forward of the seat back.

Mine is a limited. Unfortunately when we moved I tossed the factory headrests since we had a dealer installed dvd player. Those things died so don’t care with kids older. Maybe I just need a new set of stock ones?

Did the platinums come with an adjustable one? My old Lincoln cars from the ancient days of the 90s had ones that moved much more. Maybe the platinum got one that does more than this?

You have to tilt the headrest all the way forward to release the lock, then move/release the headrest to the full back position. But I see you discarded the OEM headrests? Search for a nearby Junkyard or search eBay...they are available.

The headrests are adjustable in my 2018 Limited. The later years Ford Cheaped off and stripped a ton of options out with the adjustable headrests being one of them. Get some earlier year ones, as they are adjustable.

You guys just got me fired up again with the all the little things that ford removed without telling the customer. I had to go check my 2024 headrests and found out that they don't move forward and back like my 2019. Quality is no longer job 1 at Ford, it is bean counting, which is a shame and not customer focused.

Junkyard must be inky way as I can’t find info on ford parts and the local guy said the ones he can get don’t move that way.

I would surf eBay for headrests from 2018 or 2019 with matching colors.

I bought a '24 Limited Max SPP and the stock headrests were fixed. I bought adjustable OEM headrests for a Platinum (different color stitching but I was putting seat covers on so didn't matter to me).

I have a set of black tilting with red stitching that I might be willing to sell.

Mine do go up and down, but not back and forth.

My 22 timberline has fixed headrests, but if you look at both seats, the driver side headrest is more vertical and the passenger headrest is leaning/ tilting forward much more.
So, I can see why the passenger side is uncomfortable like the OP said.
Is that the way everyone's fixed headrests are factory positioned?
Why wouldn't they make them matching.

Most Ford vehicles have been terrible for about 20 years in regards to the headrest position being too far forward. In my F150, even though its adjustable, even in the rear most tilted position I still felt like my head was being pushed forward. I ended up taking off the cloth, removing the bar from the foam, and bending the two round uprights to get it in a comfortable position.

On our 22 Exp they are fixed. I think in this case you cannot strip it down to just the bar, so I wedged it between two mostly immovable objects and bend the upright rods. Problem solved.

On my ‘16 SSV, the headrests seemed to be really far forward. Turns out the pads had gotten slid upwards on their internal steel rods. The frame/rods angle up and towards the front of the car, so the pads were scooted further forward than they should be.

We pushed them back down with a twisting motion, and they went further back and down, and settled in at a much more comfortable position. Apparently the kids had messed with them at one point and must have pulled them up.

Lance here. New to this Forum but NOT new to Expeditions (had a 2012 Expedition Limited before)

When shopping for a new 2024 Expedition Limited, I found the same thing, non-adjustable (fore & aft) driver and passenger head rests. These were very, very uncomfortable! We ended up buying a new 2024 Expedition MAX but, it had the kids video screens in the back of both driver and passenger head rests. These both adjust fore & aft easily! I can't understand the Ford thinking on these non-adjustable head rests.??

I also have another problem, though, and I could use some knowledge and help.
On the new 2024 Expedition MAX Limited, we bought, it is almost impossible to remove the HD Tow Package "Trailer Hitch Cover" from the lower rear bumper area. I called the dealer and they have no clue?? I ended up crawling under the rear of it and pushed up the 2 center plastic clips then pulling out & got it off. When I was initially pulling on it, it was flexing out the whole lower bumper plastic outward and I thought I was going to break it all out of the car!

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, was there a solution or just "Live with it"?? Thanks, Lance

PS: Being a new member (LanceExp2025) to this forum, I have No Idea how to post a new thread thus, the reason I asked for help here about the hitch cover. Please excuse my ignorance. Thanks again, Lance

I have No Idea how to post a new thread...
At the top of the thread listing, you'll see a dialog box that says "Thread title". Enter your thread title there and the whole thing will expand with another edit window where you can type your thread text.
