Does anyone else really hate the OEM tires?

We only have 30K on our 2019 Limited. It only took a few times of wet and some tire slipping and my wife was all in. Just got the Michelin Defender LTX-MS at Costco. Love them. I've had them on all my SUVs.

I learned pretty quick that these tires don't handle well in the rain while driving on my county road.

Hankooks are awful and I replaced mine at 26k. In slippery conditions I would always put the expy in 4a because of horrible grip.

Replaced then with Pirelli scorpion 3 plus, same size. They are much better.

We just did the exact same thing. The stock Hancooks were laughable in the rain- it felt like driving on ice. The defenders are quiet, roughly the same ride quality but far more stabile. What did Costco charge per tire?

Add me to the Hankook hater list. I also upgraded to Michelin Defender LTX. Much better grip and ride quality.

I just tried my Hankooks on snow after 30,000 miles and they are absolute garbage. They did bad last winter, but I wanted to just use them up. They're impossible now.
New Contenentials go on in a week or so.

Mine came with the Michelin Primacy 275x65x18 P rated all terrains. Not too bad in the rain this past weekend.

My Defenders at Costco were $1232 out the door. Thats with the $150 Michelin sale.
Thanks, I bought them for $1275 plus tax at my local tire shop but I was wondering how much more I paid vs Costco (where I had a great experience in the past getting new tires).

If you have a 4wd Expedition the window sticker may say it comes with AT tires. Mine did not, it came with the Primacy all season and I made the dealer put on All Terrain, Goodyear Wrangler with Kevlar.

I have 60,000 on 2018 Limited. Mostly highway. No issues in rain or otherwise. Wear pattern has been perfect. Not sure what I’ll replace them with in 8-10,000 miles when time comes to buy. Maybe the Defender.

I wonder if there are different versiins of HankooksI loved the OEMs on my ‘18 XLT so much I bought new ones after 45,000 miles. No rain or light snow problems.
There are. Korean and US made. The US ones have the snowpeak rating. I have the cheaper Korean ones as OEM (I think the US ones are currently cheaper, and a better buy, due to possibly supply chain). I'd call them acceptable, but there are much better tires at the same price. If you haven't known what good tires on such a big truck are like, you might not notice what you are missing.

I agree these tires are garbage, and loud! I had one too many slips and have been looking for a quality “quiet” tire with better grip.

Mine have 35,000 on them and they are absolutely silent. I'm afraid to change them, because I fear no other tire will be silent like this. Mine were rotated every 5,000 miles. They are still 1/2 tread, I the to toss them, but they are slippery as ice.

I highly recommend Michelin Defenders. They ride great and are just as quiet as the stock Hancooks. In the rain there is no comparison the Michelins are far more planted. I just came back from a 120 mile trip and had the truck up to 90+ and stayed above 80 at least half the way- no tire noise and more stable at that speed. When I asked my tire guy (a well respected major shop in Huntington) about a few different brands and models he flat out said just get the defenders, they are the best. After putting 1000 miles on them I can't say I disagree...
