Door Adjustment

Good Morning Ford Family
The monsoon winds were at a steady 45 mph with gusts up to 70. As a result, the wind caught my drivers door and hyperextended it. While the door mechanically shuts and opens fine, the leading edge of the door now clips the edge of the front left quarter panel towards the bottom. Visually, things look fine. No broken welds, no loosed pieces…etc. The body shop wants $3500 to repair this. (That’s after my $1000 deductible)
I’m sorry but I just don’t see $3500 worth of damage. Maybe I’m naive, but I don’t see it. Is there some kind of adjustment I can do that will eliminate the contact? Like I said, there’s no bent sheet metal, and no visible damage. We’re talking about maybe 1/16” that needs adjusted out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If this is truly all you need,
you could loosen bolts on the fender and give it a tap forward.

Better than doing anything with the hinges and possibly opening a can of worms you can't fix.

Something unseen is bent, these can be difficult to get back where they were. Did the door check fail, that also usually happens upon hyperextension. This website shows factory repair procedures.
