I recently had this problem and thought I would post on it since it seems to be a reocurring problem with many ford trucks. If you close the door and the door ajar light stays on all you need to do to fix it is spray the door latch with wd-40 and open and close the door a few times. This seems to happen on the drivers door since it is used the most.

I have found that on many occasions when my Door Ajar light is on, its is the rear glass lift gate which is not completely shut.

I thought that as well so i went aound and slammed all the doors to make sure. Apparently on older trucks like mine (2000) the latch gets gummed up with grease and other stuff and it hold the "door ajar" button in the on position. I have read where people have taken this to ford and they are charged up to 300 to fix it.

Mine started when it got above 80. I guess just spray it down and hope it works. I guess you could take the door apart and take out the latch and clean it by hand.

I have '98 expy, that when hot outside, the drivers door does this. Kinda got used to it, but I'll give the WD-40 a try.
Thanks!
