I’m getting I’m sick and tired of having to reselect drive modes every time I get into the vehicle. My 21 Superduty remembers the last drive mode used and defaults to that. Is there a way to do that with a 21 Expedition? TIA

Nope. They have to make it default to "normal" because that is the mode they got certified with the EPA for the gas mileage numbers and that is what applies to Ford's fleet-wide CAFE numbers. Your Super Duty (well, not just yours, all SuperDutys) are factored into Ford's CAFE using a different standard so they can allow those larger vehicles to remember the drive mode.I’m getting I’m sick and tired of having to reselect drive modes every time I get into the vehicle. If you have a 21 Expedition, please go to the FORSCAN area, there is a thread where the Beta version of FORSCAN is posted that will work with a 21. Search is your friend.Gotcha. Would you know if that mechanism is on the TCM or the ECM?
I doubt it. I can’t get ForScan to even link into the BCM at this point. As for my SuperDuty, no issues. I could, however, make changes in the IPC module for temp display on the cluster but I can’t turn on Bambi Mode or Secure Idle which is BS. I keep getting a service interruption when I try changes on the BCM…![]()

it stays in the mode your were in before you turned the vehicle off and exited?I have done it on my 2019 2wd. It works 95+% of the time.
Hmm, my 2018 Platinum seems to do just fine setting tow mode whenever the electrical plug is inserted. It informs me the next time I start it that it's off - no trailer detected. Nice feature, but dumb that it has to display an alert for 10 or so seconds unless I hit the ok button.I was wondering about the same thing. Sometimes forget to put it back into Tow mode after stopping.
Yes, it stays in the same mode as the last time I drove it.it stays in the mode your were in before you turned the vehicle off and exited?
But not factory, and not a FORSCAN change. You spliced a module into your wiring harness.Yes, it stays in the same mode as the last time I drove it.
See thread below. It also list some of the pluses and minuses.
Drive Mode Memory Installation
I was tired of hitting the button 5 times every time I started the car to put it in ECO mode. I like the way adaptive cruise control responds in ECO mode. I think there are a lot of people who would use this for sport mode. I saw the memory module for the F150 and I wanted to see if I could...www.expeditionforum.com
If you unplug the trailer with the Expedition running, you should not get that message at the next startup. It is because the trailer was plugged in when the vehicle was off, last it knew you had a trailer connected.Hmm, my 2018 Platinum seems to do just fine setting tow mode whenever the electrical plug is inserted. This is just the trailer detected relative to the instrument panel. It does not affect the drive modes.Hmm, my 2018 Platinum seems to do just fine setting tow mode whenever the electrical plug is inserted. I'm one of those guys that made direct line changes, I didn't know there were drop downs when I first started using forscan. I tried to revert a setting back to the original code (auto start/stop disable) but not the start/stop only works when it wants to. I tried changing it through the drop down afterwards but it didn't help. A couple issues that I think may be a culprit. If you have a 21 Expedition, please go to the FORSCAN area, there is a thread where the Beta version of FORSCAN is posted that will work with a 21. Also, DO NOT use direct line code changes from any previous Expeditions, as the 21's are even somewhat different than the 20's. Use the drop downs.
Also, FORSCAN cannot change the default. It will default to Normal. The 21 150's ask you. If you don't answer in a few seconds it goes back to Normal.
Did you backup the stock settings on the module before you made changes? If not, you can ask in the FORSCAN Area for the coding from another 2018 with similar options. You can then compare.I'm one of those guys that made direct line changes, I didn't know there were drop downs when I first started using forscan. 1. i tried the the revert with a newer version of forscan than what I used to make the changes.
2. The new version of forscan now warns me able my adapter, because it is not one of the adapters listed on the forscan website. My adapter worked fine when I made the initial changes.
Should I try an older version of forscan to try and fix the start/stop function?
Of course I didn't.........I figured I could just change the one digit back to the original number and there be no problem. I wrote down what I changed on paper for when this time came around.Did you backup the stock settings on the module before you made changes? ALWAYS back up the whole module before making line item changes. It is part of the basic tutorials on FORSCAN usage.
Looking at this post, maybe I don't have a problem. I've had the function disabled for awhile, I don't remember exactly how often it would turn off. I'll have to watch the display and see.Did you backup the stock settings on the module before you made changes? The problem is that one digit can cause another digit to change based on the total coding of that line. That is why you should always backup the modules, AT LEAST once before you start making any changes, so you can go back to default.Of course I didn't.........I figured I could just change the one digit back to the original number and there be no problem. Ahh, I see now.The problem is that one digit can cause another digit to change based on the total coding of that line. That is why you should always backup the modules, AT LEAST once before you start making any changes, so you can go back to default.
