Hello

I am going to be swapping an Expedition transfer case into my Explorer. I need some info:

1) The 4x4 rear driveshaft came in four varities, according to my research:

1) 4.6/4r70w std. suspention:

2) 4.6/4r70w auto ride suspention:

3) 5.4/e4od std. suspention:

4) 5.4/e4od auto ride suspention:

If you know the lenghts of these shafts, that would be much appreciated.

Oops...

1997-1998.

I'm really curious why the two suspentions used different shafts, and what those differences are. Some shafts I've found have a double-cardan joint at the t-case yoke, others don't.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

So do you need a new driveshaft? Your town probably has a driveshaft shop. They don't care what configuration of suspension or drivetrain you have. They want to know the distance from one mounting point to the other, and what kind of mounting interface. That's it.

And having a driveshaft built really isn't that expensive.
