hello all
im looking at replacing my stock cd player in my 08 expo with a dvd/gps headunit, has anyone done this on the 3rd gen models?
also i assume its going to affect the rsc but is there anyway i can get around this as i would like to keep that function cos otherwise im not sure if the rear controls will still work in some way or just be made redundant?

cheers

nice, did you do the headunit install yourself of was it done at a garage? im trying to see if i can install mine myself but im not sure if i should just get someone else to do it and same me the time.
really like your setup though, and might think about adding a sub to mine later on, as yours looks sweet!

cheers

Really up to your ability......it has been years since I have done a real stereo install.....the modules to make it all interface sucked - lots of time, effort, in and out of the car (working on programming)....but if you would say you are electrically competent you can do it.

For sure I would tell you to do speakers - very easy and straightforward

If you are worried about finding the wires for tapping into - let a shop do it - I bet install is $200 or so for a headunit; another 150 or so for a rear overhead screen. Safe insurance if you are scared of it (which I could understand, its not so easy).

In my 07 I replaced the stock GPS unit with a Pioneer GPS unit. With the use of a PAC RP4-FD11 interface you can retain RSE and steering wheel controls. I found that the audio quality coming from the RSE to the head unit was poor, but that wasn't really an issue for me. I also ran RCA's from the output of the new HU back to the RSE so that you can play DVD's up front and push the audio/video back to the rear screen.
