Does anyone know who makes the factory installed DVD player? I am trying to see which type/brand of DVDs work best (or at all). I don't want to carry our original DVDs around in the car and am prepared to create copies. I have both DVDCopyX and DVDExpress, and a Pioneer A06 DVD-burner that can write to DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R and DVR+R.

So far, none of the copies work in the Expedition player.

While I do not know the maker of the DVD player, I can tell you another program to "aide" the backing up of your DVD's. Try using the program called DVDShrink. It allows you to make perfect ur um...backups on ONE DVD. But to answer your question no the DVD player in the Expy does not recognize DVD R like the home DVD players do.

Ford Expy DVD is third party installed

My local dealer told me that Ford subs out the DVD Entertainment system installation to a company named Visteon Automotive Systems (800) 847-8366... but so far they have not picked up the phone nor responded to an email I sent... in case anyone else has problems with this system.
