I have my fans installed in a home made shroud. I used fans from a 98 SHO I parted out. I have them wired in on low speed only which seems to be plenty of air. Cools it down fairly quick and will suck a sheet of paper right to the grill when they are on.

Now for my question. I wired the fans where the come on with the A/C. I don't want them running while I'm driving down the highway with the A/C on. I'm trying to find a way to automatically disable them at speed. Maybe torque converter lock-up or is there any kind of output from the ECM to tap into. I'm not sure if the TCC is off/on or if it ramps up the engagement for smoothness. My 99 SHO did it in percentages of lockup. I wonder if it would throw a code having a relay hooked into it.

I have a controller using a temp probe. It will shut off naturally at speed. When I turn on the A/C the fans run constantly.

Controller gets power from battery. Has a signal wire from an ignition on source and an override wire from the A/C compressor circuit. It controls the ground side of the fans.

I'm pretty sure the factory electric fans are on all the time with the A/C on. So they're designed to handle it.

01yellerCobra is correct, fans are on when a/c is turned on. If you wanted to disable them you would have to interrupt the power fed from that circuit. Expect the a/c to overheat when going slow though.

I only want it disabled 35mph or higher. My torque converter locks up at 40mph with my tune.
