Hello to everybody! Long time reader first time poster. Gen 1 Expedition has been one of my dream cars for many years. And 5 years ago I finally got me one when picked up a neglected black early 97 Expedition EB 4x4, which is still an on-off daily driver and a utility truck/trail rig.

Currently the truck is having its engine replaced, since the original 5.4 one did not respond too well to autogas conversion, probably the new one won't as well, so have to think of a more permanent solution, probably something sacrilegious.

In total I have about €17k into it, not including the purchase price, so one can tell I am still serious about it (or about the platform at least, if not the engine).

Welcome to the club, I remember returning to France in 1998 with my 1997 Ford expedition, I registered it in England because the french registration system was very complex and the road tax was based on the engine size, 5.4L V8 engine meant it would be very expensive.. After a few years France abolished the road tax, so I then registered my expedition in France and loved driving it, but fill ups where very expensive!! In 2005 I left France and moved back to the USA and was thinking of bringing my expedition back with me, but at that time it looked like the car would be worth $5K in the USA, I sold it in France for $12K which I thought was fantastic!! Moved to the USA bought a 2003 model expedition (2WD) for $12K and then in 2007 traded it in for a new 4WD Expedition EL limited which I have owned ever since..

Loved driving the expedition in europe, but driving through some of the older towns could get challenging as the roads became narrower than the car!!
