ECU's Clearing

Has anyone cleared their codes by disconnecting the negative battery cable and jumping it to the positive cable?
2003 Eddie Bauer 4.6 Liter 2WD

For clearing codes, I usually use a cheap ODBII device or FORScan, provided I’ve corrected the issues. The procedure you described will clear the PCM and you’ll have to relearn its functions.
