Electrical & Relay Experts - Interiror LED Lighting

I'm in the process of adding interior accent lights to my truck. I drew up this diagram, if anyone could take a look and tell me if you see anything wrong with it.

What is the load in amps?
How do you wants the light to work, only one on or be able to have both on?
The spdt (on-off-on) switches can control 2 circuits when the center pin is powered. Same with the relays - supply power to pin 30 and you output power on 87 or 87a. That would give you power to either circuit.

The 'switch' part of the relay is between 30 and 87. So on the upper relay 30 and 87 interrupt the + line to the lights. So, of course 30 does not go to ground.

There are also some other issues. That I don't have time to go in to right now.

So what you want is a master "off" switch and a master 'on' switch, both of which will override the normal door switch, right?

My thought process:

The first switch hooked up to the green wire (Vehicle's courtesy lamp wire) is basically a kill switch so the LEDs won't turn on and off with the courtesy lamps when the doors open or close.

The second switch is to control the LEDs once the courtesy lamp is off (when doors are closed and the lights turn off on their own)

I'm running ground through 30 out to 87 on purpose because I have 12V going directly to the LEDs. Once the relay does what it's suppose to do, ground gets applied and the LEDs come on.

The first switch (lower left) is added on for convenience really (personal preference).

My concern is, since electrical & relays aren't my thing, ... in your opinion, would this setup work without anything interfering with one another ?

This may be a simpler way of doing the wiring. Plus a 20a fuse is way too much for a few leds. You should have specs from the manufacturer on what the power consumption is.

Thanks for the diagram Stamp. Much simpler I agree. But I'm also trying to control the LED lights when the courtesy lamp trigger is off.

I went back to the drawing board with the help of a member from another Ford Forum and came up with this. Which is very similar to what you sent me but with the added feature. I think this should work. Only one way to find out tho. I'll post updates once installed.

What switches are you planning on using, spdt? If so, and they follow standard pin outs there is an issue with wiring to both switches. The ground connection is constant for pin 85 on both relays regardless of switch position.

You may want to check out a free open source schematic program called "TinyCAD". I use it when teaching the basic electrical class. Makes it easy for the students to "see" the electrical flow.
