I have a 2000 Expedition EB. It has a 2 inch receiver and a 7 pin tow plug. In attempting to see if everything worked (fuses, lights, etc), I discovered that two relays associated with Towing were not present in the distribution box. Relay 302 (Towing Battery Charge) and Relay 203 (Trailer Tow Backup Relay). This confuses me since I'm assuming the towing package was from the factory but yet these relays are missing. Can anyone tell me if I really need them and what the part numbers would be? Thanks.

Hi pbmfh:

I don't know this to be totally accurate, but I remember reading on the Ford site, that those relays and the 'Built-In' trailer brake controller were PART of the factory HD Trailer Towing package. With the 7-pin plug NOT being on your Expy, I would assume that you DO NOT have HD Trailer Towing Package, therefore, those were NOT installed at the Ford factory on your car.

What I also don't know, is if the wiring harness to your 4-pin plug already has the other wires in it or not? If not, installing the relays would accomplish nothing. I would 'guess' not, but maybe someone on here w/ more knowledge can enlighten us both. I hope this helps a little, Lance
