I bought an Eddie Bauer 1998 with 100,000 miles serviced and well maintained ran great but then i let it sit for 3 years with half a tank gas ok newctank and everything inn it now turn on key all the lights on dash come on go off but the theft lightvand no start hook up my obd2 scanner now the theft light comesvon goes off and starts wth ive put new cables cleaned the grounding points ect. no one has an answer ill replace what it needs but not gonna buy everything trying to figure it out anuyone have this problem?

My first guess would be to check the fuel system. Old gas starts to coagulate (think that’s the right word) and causes clogs. Fuels lines, injectors, and fuel filters can fall victim. Check fuel pressure up front. If all good there’s something else going on. If not, I’d inspect fuel system completely. Just a thought based on if I completely understand your description of the issue at hand. Was slightly hard to follow.

The theft light is on? Sounds like a key fob issue. I had a spare key made for emergencies and found out that the original key is required for the anti-theft system to allow you to start the truck.
