Can anyone specify whether or not the Ford emblem on the back right of the tail gate on my 2000 EB is held on with only adhesive or if it has bolts as well?

Thinking about just ripping it off, but obviously this isn't an option if it has bolts in it. (I'm not going to pay money to have a body shop fill the holes)

don't quote me but they are "usually" pressed in. There will be an oval "ford shaped" indentation in the tailgate with 2 holes within that. Then on the back of the emblem there will be 2 little "nubs" or whatever that are flared so when you push them into the holes thay click in place.
If you wanted you could take off the inner trim and look inside and see.

The holes are there to center the emblem and it is held on by adhesive. I took mine off the other day because the adhesive wore off. Need to get it back on.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess debadging is out of the equation!

I still need to find some black emblem overlays. No one makes them anymore because of legal issues... The blue does not flow with anything on my truck.

Yes, there are holes behind the emblem. What I did was pulled the emblem off then I found a piece of scrap sheet metal (16 gauge as I recall). I painted that the same color as my truck and then I laid a decal over the top of the piece of metal. I then used double sided tape and stuck it back on.

This is what the back of my truck looks like now. he he he he he.

It is really simple to do once you have a basic idea of what needs to be done.
