I Just got this truck 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4 eddie bauer V8 and now there's a knocking sound in the engine. I don't know that much about motors just the basics. But it runs and sounds fine when idling, just when I press the gas do I hear the knocking noise. Is this a bearing ? How much does it cost to fix? Could it be something other than a bearing ? It was extremely low on oil as well when I got it.

Post a video with good sound so the experts can all chime in. If it sounds louder underneath then it may be a rod knock. Better to hear the type of sound it makes and the frequency compared to engine rpm before accurately giving a diagnosis .

Not to jump the gun, but I had this happen to my 4.6 in my Mustang. Ended up being cylinder 8 rod bearing. It had got low on oil. Mine had a knock only around 2000-2500 rpms

My truck is with my mechanic now. But I never really pinpointed where the noise was coming from if it was top or bottom. But I'm guessing it was bottom.

Hey 46 guy.. Yeah that's about when the knocking noise starts is when it gets up to 2000 rpm . so you gave me good hopes that it's nothing really serious and it'll be fast and easy to repair.

It wasn't too bad. Had to get an oversized bearing and polish the crank shaft
