So I'm coming home soon and I am looking into doing a new exhaust on my expy. So I have been looking for a write up to see if anyone has taken off the rear cats on theirs and just running two of them. Just seeing if anyone is doing it and what they are running.

I still want to do this... just $$$$ up here. I wanted to new cats to replace all 4.

You can run two cats and not throw codes.

Hi, i have an 01 expy XLT sport 4x4 with the 5.4L triton, i have done a custom flame job on the hood, and just put on a thrush glasspack muffler, and tomorrow i do a resonator delete, after that i am going to try and squeeze out 2" of lift from my torsion bars, any comments on what i am doing is greatly appreciated.

was curious about the cats also. Why does everyone delete the rear cats? why not the front cats? would think they would be more dirty considering they are first.

Brusky, it is much more advantageous to remove the rear cats as the cat efficiency is directly related to the temp of the exhaust entering the cat. The lower the temp, the less efficient the cat becomes. Sure, we are only talking a few degrees here, but in the life of a cat, that is a big difference.

I have a 2000 XLT and all 4 cats gone on my factory exhaust for 4 years now and have never thrown a CEL with no noticeable loss of power on the low end either.
