Anyone have any idea.what this might be?

Story time: I noticed some threads coming out of the exhaust, started pulling, kept pulling, this is what came out. If it were the shower drain I could understand....not too sure about this.

2016 Expedition EL, 93K miles, all stock.

Hoping for some advice!

Thanks in advance!

There has been several posts with photos of similar issues on this forum. Most have seemed to be the 2015 - 2017 models.

I drive mine without issues. I did not notice any sound changes within my cabin or any deviation in fuel economy. I would keep existing muffler until it has a real hole in it. You can get more stuff out. See my post

Like ftp says, keep driving and don't worry about it.

A new stainless Ford muffler's $1300. Or you can put on a Walker replacement for $100 that rots out in two years.

Figured I would jump in here. my 2018 is barfing up these fibreglass fibres now. The dealer says $787 CDN for an OEM muffler.
