My '01 exp 5.4L won't start. When key is turned the engine makes one small "chug" and doesn't turn over.

Replaced the starter and still the same thing

Now, it just hit me that my AC doesn't work due to a leak (just haven't got it fixed) and the AC clutch pulley has been making a rattling and squealing sound for a little while now. QUESTION: could a seized AC clutch pulley cause the exp not to start? And how can I test to see if it starts without the pulley being attached to the belt? Any kind of tricks or bypass kits out there ?

Thanks

There is Compressor Bypass Pulley available, you pull the compressor and replace. It takes AC out of your truck, but it does add gas mileage. I used one of these in a Jeep a few years ago. Remember even if its not working, your system may still be under pressure, and if you pull the compressor, thats pressure baby!
